A day at La Petite École
Explore our immersive bilingual classrooms with interactive play and hands-on
learning in an nurturing community.

Children arrive between 8:00–9:00 AM and settle into free play and snack, followed by project work, outdoor play, and inquiry-based learning. The day includes a shared lunch, rest time, and a relaxed afternoon of creative play and exploration until pick up either between 3:00-4:00 PM or up to 5:30 PM for families registered for after-care.
Outdoor play is part of every day at La Petite École. Children spend time outside rain or shine whenever weather conditions are safe, either in our petit parc or on supervised community walks and excursions.
Not at all. French is woven naturally into songs, play, and daily routines, making it a gentle and enjoyable introduction to the language.
Our program is play-based and inquiry-lead, meaning children learn through exploration, relationships, and hands-on experiences rather than formal instruction. This approach supports creativity, language development, and social-emotional growth.
No, La Petite École is not a Montessori school. Our program is play-based and influenced by Reggio Emilia and inquiry-led learning, which emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and open-ended exploration.
Montessori classrooms often focus on individual work with specific materials. At La Petite École, children learn through collaborative play, projects, and exploration, while still supporting independence and hands-on learning.
Both Montessori and play-based programs can offer wonderful early learning experiences. At La Petite École, we choose a play-based and inquiry-lead approach because it strongly supports language development, creativity, social skills, and emotional growth in the preschool years.
Most children begin preschool between 2 and 3 years old, when they are ready to explore independently while still benefiting from a nurturing environment and predictable routines.
Whenever possible, we support new children with a gradual start, allowing them to ease into the classroom rhythm over several days. This helps build confidence and strong relationships with educators.
La Petite École is intentionally small and relationship-focused. Our program blends play-based learning, French immersion through daily life, and a warm community atmosphere where children feel known, safe, and excited to come each day.
We maintain enhanced staffing ratios beyond minimum licensing requirements so educators can build strong relationships with each child and support learning in small groups.
Yes. Tuition includes a warm catered lunch and two nutritious snacks each day, allowing children to share meals together as part of the rhythm of the day.
We believe children thrive when they feel safe, known, and deeply cared for. Educators focus on building strong relationships, helping children develop confidence, empathy, and the ability to navigate friendships.
Yes. We understand that starting preschool is a big transition, so whenever possible we offer a gentle gradual start to help children build comfort and confidence in the classroom.
We use the Brightwheel app for daily communication, updates, and important information, helping families stay connected to their child’s day.
La Petite École is more than a school — it’s a community.
Throughout the year we invite families into the classroom to see their children in action with their peers and educators, through moments like Café Croissant mornings and special programming such as International Week.
Seasonal gatherings like our annual Winter Celebration and Year-End Picnic bring the whole community together.
