French immersion for all language backgrounds

Who we are

La Petite École is the only half-day French enrichment preschool in Bloor West Village.

We are a licensed preschool that offers a morning program for children between ages 2–3 (“les petits”), and an afternoon program for ages 3–5 (“les grands”). We provide a comfortable learning environment for children who are new to the French language or francophone.

Philosophy

Scientific evidence shows that second languages are best acquired before the age of five. Through interactive play that engages all five senses, children learn French through gradual adaptation — all while having fun with other kids!

Meet our educators

Jennifer Brown

Owner & Operator

Jennifer was born and raised in Québec, where she received a French education before getting a bachelor’s in psychology from UBC. When she’s not working on La Petite École, she’s volunteering on the #Tech4SickKids council for SickKids. Before La Petite École, she was a director at TKS, an education program recognized as a WEF School of the Future.

"Being a young mom who also grew up speaking French, I’m passionate about early childhood development and the French environment that La Petite École offers for children of all backgrounds."

Jessica Keith-Taillon

Supervisor & registered Early Childhood Educator

Jessica received her ECE diploma from George Brown College and a bachelor’s degree from Ryerson University. Before joining La Petite École, she worked as a developmental consultant with Surrey Place's Infant & Child Development Services, specializing in collaboration with families and service providers for children with special needs.

"I love the sense of community and partnerships that are formed with our families. I’m thankful that I get to share the lifelong gift of French with children."

Anaïs Mercier

Early Childhood Educator

Anais was born in the west of France, where she completed a diploma in education in Paris. She has worked for several years with children from ages 2 to 14 years old. While teaching the core French curriculum at La Petite École, she also designed our astronomy program and French reading club.

"I’m so happy to be part of French education for Canadian children. I love to make every day full of laughter and fun!"

Amina Khadira

Early Childhood Assistant

Amina brings more than a decade of experience in psychology, early child development, and maternal health to La Petite École. Her work with children and vaccines within the Ministry of Health of Morocco, where she’s from, informs La Petite École’s approach to family health and school hygiene.

"I’m delighted to ensure the health and safety of your children, and I’m committed to creating an environment conducive to their fulfillment and development."
